The Onboarding Coordinator is an integral member of the Sun Peaks Resort/Sun Peaks Grand Hotel Employee Experience team, reporting to the Director, Employee Experience. With a primary responsibility for best practice onboarding and orientation, the incumbent will contribute to delivering on our overarching day 1 to 90 new hire experience goals, anticipating and meeting the needs of new joiners as well as their leaders as it relates to pre-start preparation and engagement, and delivering a great first impression and a seamless assimilation to our organization. In addition, the Onboarding Coordinator has primary responsibility for oversight and management of our staff uniform program and our employee-exclusive online store for logo wear.

This role would be well suited to an individual who brings a strong program management background, combined with a creative flair, welcoming attitude and outgoing personality, comfortable presenting to large groups and working across multiple departments. Experience in an operational employee or guest-facing role is important, combined with an understanding of the key moments that matter in defining an exceptional experience. The role will likely appeal to someone who can be both hands on as well as strategic and values the opportunity to bring their creativity to the position, while still being comfortable with data, detail, structure and technology.

Given our unique environment, this role brings with it the opportunity to be part of closely-knit team located in Canada's second largest ski area, within British Columbia, and take advantage of the wonderful year-round mountain playground available in the resort.

Compensation Information: $60.000 to $65,000 per annum

Physical Requirement: Light; work activities involve handling loads up to 10 kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, or in program management, training/facilitation, marketing communications or related.
  • Confident in group facilitation and public speaking.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of adult learning principles and a creative flair to design engaging content.
  • Experience working with learning or related technology platforms, and a willingness to explore and learn new tools and programs to deliver seamless and scalable experiences.
  • Strong report-writing and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized with a track record of successful project management and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaborative approach within team and across departments, balancing influence with a high degree of service orientation.
  • Competent across Microsoft office programs, with strong Excel skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As owner of our new employee onboarding and orientation journey, responsible for designing, updating, assigning and tracking our virtual mandatory onboarding curriculum to all new hires from pre-start to first 90 days.
  • In collaboration with other Employee Experience team members, OHS and other stakeholders, identify and create appropriate curriculum content and duration, to maximize engagement, completion, assimilation and knowledge retention, and in alignment with compliance and other evolving requirements.
  • As Subject Matter Expert and owner of Talent LMS (our learning platform), offer training support and best practice guidance to leaders for their department-specific SOGs and learning content suitable for virtual delivery, and ensure they have the tools and knowledge to access status/completion reports for all training assigned to their team members.
  • Bring best practice and thought leadership to onboarding, including research and recommendations for new tools and technology as it relates to both onboarding and Learning Management Systems, taking on project management responsibilities for new tool discovery and adoption, as well as hiring manager and team training as required.
  • In collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders, own the planning, design and delivery of best-in-class new hire orientation events as well as supporting materials each season that promote inclusion and belonging, reinforce expectations and share important and relevant information.
  • Define metrics and measures of success for onboarding and orientation, maintaining a continuous feedback loop, and tracking and reporting accordingly, making recommendations for enhancements and adjustments as required.
  • As owner of our employee uniform program, maintain relationships with our partner vendors, and ensure the timely ordering of all suitable garment pieces and name badges aligned with annual buy cycles, seasonal employee start dates and in consultation with department needs.
  • Manage on-going uniform inventory, maintenance and cleaning, and prepare infill/re-order proposals in a timely way to meet our budget timelines for capital and operating expenses.
  • Ensure welcome packages are ready for a new employee's first day of work including sourcing appropriate content for welcome kits and ensuring mountain passes are activated.
  • As owner of online staff shop for logowear and accessories, responsible for product sourcing, selection, order and inventory management, as well as new product development, promotional campaigns and overall evaluation and development of the product mix and proposition.
  • Make recommendations as part of annual budget cycle for spends related to onboarding, orientation, uniforms and other programs within portfolio, review and approve invoices in a timely manner and ensure adherence to budget throughout the year.
  • Support wider Employee Experience team in other employee experience initiatives as required, particularly staff appreciation events and feedback sessions, as well as representation in Employee Resource Groups.
