The Name Plate Operator plays a pivotal role on the Operations team. As Armstrong continues to grow in manufacturing capacity and efficiency, we are looking for a dependable and hard-working individual who will be responsible for supporting in administrative functions for both the production and maintenance teams, contributing ideas to improve efficiencies, and adhering to all health and safety policies and best practices.

This position is based out of Scarborough, Ontario and reports directly to the Afternoon Shift Assembly Supervisor.

The first 3-4 weeks will be spent shadowing and training with the Day Shift Name Plate Operator (7:00am 3:30pm). Once completed, this position will move to operating during the Afternoon Shift (3:30pm 12:00am) on a permanent basis.

In addition to annual initiatives, the key responsibilities are as follows:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creating serialized plates to be installed on our products prior to distribution
  • Printing clear, accurate nameplates / labels / prints as required using our database system (Infor LN)
  • Entering data into computer-based systems, such as our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Maintaining stock levels of required materials
  • Preparing job documentation packages for assigned manufacturing orders
  • Performing preventative maintenance and cleaning of job-related equipment
  • Assisting with creating Purchase Orders (POs)
  • Following all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations constantly in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • All other duties as may be assigned

What Were Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a support or administrative function in a manufacturing environment or similar
  • Computer-literate, technically oriented, and excellent organizational skills required
  • Experience working in a Mechanical Pump manufacturing facility is considered an asset
  • Electrical and mechanical working knowledge is considered an asset
  • Ability to break-down complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and provide clear recommendations (solution-oriented)
  • Strong aptitude and experience working with a cross-functional team involving several departments
  • Strong sense of urgency in a time-sensitive working environment
  • Great team-oriented attitude, while capable of working independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
