Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

Ontario Transit Group (OTG) is seeking an BIM Coordinator responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes within a construction or design project, ensuring accurate and up-to-date digital information is accessible to all stakeholders by overseeing model creation, clash detection, and data management throughout the design and construction stages, ultimately facilitating smooth project collaboration and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and aggregate Design partners' and Trade subcontractors' BIM models, Maintaining up-to date the BIM Federated Models
  • Review 3D models elaborated by designers, subcontractors or other teams in terms of quality
  • Run visual and automated clash detection of aggregated BIM models (spatial coordination)
  • Communicate conflicts in model; both real and potential, producing 3D BIM coordination reports, Issues creation, bcf management.
  • Develop and maintain BIM object library and design scripts libraries, as per Project BIM/CAD standards
  • Develop and maintain Project BIM models during the construction phase (if required), as per Project BIM/CAD standards
  • including sections, viewpoints and other representations, to help the understanding of different teams the specific details)
  • Provide BIM support to project Engineering and Construction teams for construction scheduling by performing quantity take-offs. Provide trade/s quantity schedule outputs
  • Overview laser scanning of existing spaces where required and incorporate if needed into the Federation Models for Project team's review
  • Incorporate field data into BIM model as per project Standards and Project BIM Uses. Generate As Built models using survey information
  • Provide BIM Navigation User trainings
  • Develop/Export CAD drawings, as per Project BIM/CAD standards (Generate drawings from Issue For Construction stage models, for construction team fit out team activities support,
  • Assist development of Cadets and Graduate Engineers
  • Participate in on-the-job development/training
  • Support, implement and adhere to H&S policies and procedures.
  • Promote a safe and environmentally sound working environment and a culture of safe and responsible behaviours and attitudes, ensuring safety.
Qualifications
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit (Stations) and Civil 3D (civil works). Autodesk Navisworks knowledge is mandatory
  • Experience of software applications such as Synchro, Fuzor, Dynamo are a plus
  • 3 years of experience minimum with at least 2 years on projects using BIM
