THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Field Biologist,to join a well-established team of environmental professionals.

This role can be based in Fort McMurray, Calgary, or Edmonton, AB. The successful candidate will work as part of a field team, reporting to the project office. Transportation will be provided from Calgary, Edmonton, or Fort McMurray to the work site.

This is a temporary position that is targeted to start right away. The position will end later this fall, approximately the end of October 2025. However, there is a possibility that fulltime permanent work could be offered, either right away, or made available after the work term.

Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks, including:

  • Bird identification;
  • Data collection;
  • Daily data entry and reporting;
  • Manual hazing of birds;
  • Deployment and maintenance of bird deterrent infrastructure;
  • Assessment of deterrents and recommendations to prevent habituation;
  • Wildlife identification; and
  • Bird sweeps, wildlife hazing, and other wildlife programs, as required.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Post-secondary education (degree or technical diploma) in biology, environmental science, or a related discipline
  • Ability to work long days in the field and handle physically demanding work
  • Demonstrated attention to detail required for data collection and entry
  • Experience in bird identification considered an asset
  • Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment essential
  • Valid Class 5 drivers licence

SCHEDULE

This position will entail working in the field, doing shift rotational work.

The schedule is determined by project hiring needs and could be 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, 12hrs daily (overtime will be paid as per AB employment standards).
