Role Description
The Grant Writer plays a key role as part of RTV's Partnerships, Grants Management and
Reporting Team in supporting the development of compelling, high-quality proposals and
reports for institutional donors and foundation partners. This position will focus on writing for
restricted and general support funding, responding to detailed donor information requests, and
supporting the expansion of RTV's donor pipeline.
This is a mid-level, non-managerial role best suited for a technically strong writer with proven
experience in grant writing for international development organizations and a passion for making
a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
Grant and Proposal Writing
Write high-quality, compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and letters of inquiry for institutional and foundation donors, with a focus on restricted funding opportunities.
Customize content to align with each donor's strategic priorities, language, and reporting requirements.
Draft narratives that integrate program design, technical components, budgets, log frames, and indicators in collaboration with relevant teams.
Donor Reporting and Compliance
Prepare detailed donor reports, narrative and technical, that accurately reflect program progress, results and impact, building on existing data analysis, success stories and performance outcome and output indicators.
Support the Grants and Reporting Manager with cross-team coordination to ensure reporting schedules are tracked and ensure timely submission based on internal best practices, donor deliverables and requirements.
Ensure all reporting complies with donor requirements and reflects RTV's programmatic and financial accountability.
Information Gathering and Internal Coordination
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to collect accurate and relevant content for proposals and reports.
Synthesize complex data, program results, and field updates into accessible, persuasive language for donor communication and reporting.
Maintain strong knowledge of RTV's program models, thematic focus areas, and emerging learnings.
Content Management and Support
Develop and maintain a library of grant templates, past proposals, boilerplate organizational language, program descriptions, and FAQs ensuring efficiency and consistency in grant and reporting submissions.
Help standardize writing practices and ensure consistency in tone, messaging, and formatting across distributed documents.
Support in drafting responses to donor questions and Requests for Information (RFIs), which may include long-form technical writing.
Strategic Support and Readiness
Anticipate and support increased demand for high-quality grant writing as RTV expands into new institutional and restricted funding partnerships.
Remain up-to-date on donor trends, institutional funding mechanisms, and best practices in proposal development.
Assist with light research and background content development to support new partnership opportunities or program expansions.
Skills and Qualifications
3-5 Years of proven experience writing successful proposals and reports for major international donors and foundations (e.g., GAC, GAVI, Gates Foundation, USAID, etc.)
Demonstrated success securing restricted funding.
Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences and donors.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with international teams across time zones; international travel experience is an asset.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style; able to integrate feedback and work effectively across departments.
Degree in International Development, Public Policy, Communications, English, or related
field preferred.
