The Opportunity

Venturis is looking for a dynamic Assistant Safety Manager to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As the Assistant Safety Manager, you will enhance our operations through adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety and sustainability within our organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Assistant Safety Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures across the organization
  • Collaborate with management to develop corrective action plans and promote continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Assist with integrating new business acquisitions
  • Act as the main point of contact for Leavitt Cranes and Heavy Equipment divisions
  • Manage regulator inspection orders and compliance, track and communicate HSE performance
  • Support in the development, implementation and analysis of health and safety reporting systems
  • Perform monthly branch check-ins for compliance and serious incident review
  • Manage ISO 45001 and COR audit
  • Provide leadership, onboarding and training for the safety team and new non-safety managers
  • Contribute to ensuring that the organization meets all health and safety legislation objectives and that appropriate risk mitigation/control measures are in place
  • Assist with identifying potential improvements to policies and processes, and recommend and help implement required changes

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • At least three years of related work experience in health and safety
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • NCSO and/or CRSP certification is a strong asset
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communications skills and a customer-oriented mindset, including the ability to work with internal customers at all levels and across departments
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Highly adaptable and resourceful with strong critical thinking skills

The base pay range for this role is: $98,000 to $105,000 per year.

This is an onsite role based in Edmonton, Alberta.
