You'll contribute to the design and documentation of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems while mentoring junior staff and supporting project execution from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work independently on assigned scopes with minimal supervision.

  • Take on increased leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and task delegation based on team members' experience.

  • Size and place HVAC and plumbing distribution systems and equipment in accordance with industry standards and internal design guidelines.

  • Perform load calculations using company-provided software.

  • Select mechanical equipment in coordination with suppliers and manufacturer representatives.

  • Prepare schematic designs, design development, and construction documents using AutoCAD or REVIT while following internal design and documentation standards.

  • Review personal work for errors prior to supervisory checks using review checklists and clash detection tools.

  • Assist with preparation of project specifications and documentation packages.

  • Coordinate mechanical designs with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Identify and communicate additional service needs and associated fees to project managers in a timely manner.

  • Assist with contract administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and on-site visits.

  • Participate in client, consultant, and contractor design/construction meetings as needed.

  • Support project scheduling and budgeting in collaboration with project managers.

  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, on-time projects through continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is an asset.

  • Professional accreditation such as CET, E.I.T., or P.Tech (Eng.) is strongly encouraged.

  • Experience in mechanical HVAC and plumbing design is beneficial.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, heating, cooling, air handlers, fire protection).

  • Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings.

  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing and building codes.

  • Familiarity with design and documentation standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
