Job Title: Director of Operations
Location: Mississauga, ON
Type: Full-Time | In-Office
Compensation: Above $175K + Bonus + Benefits
Industry: Custom Manufacturing & Construction
Posted by: Adams Limitless (Recruitment Partner)
Overview:
Adams Limitless is proud to represent a growing, design-driven construction and manufacturing company that delivers custom steel and aluminum structures across North America. As they prepare for their next phase of expansion, we're seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Operations to lead their day-to-day operations and help scale the business.

This is a business-critical role reporting directly to ownership. The right candidate will bring strong leadership, process improvement capabilities, and the ability to unite multiple departments toward common operational goals. The company operates across multiple entities in North America, with nearly 100 staff including subs.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Leadership

  • Oversee all operations across engineering, project management, production, procurement, logistics, and installation

  • Implement systems and processes that improve delivery timelines and output consistency

  • Lead daily and weekly alignment meetings to ensure clarity and accountability

Manufacturing Oversight

  • Drive performance and efficiency in a custom fabrication environment

  • Manage raw material planning, production scheduling, and plant KPIs

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to streamline throughput and reduce waste

Financial Insight & Reporting

  • Own operational KPIs and reporting (lead times, delivery timelines, margin improvement)

  • Work with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost control

  • Identify and execute on margin-growth opportunities

Team Leadership

  • Coach and develop department heads across operations

  • Build a culture of ownership, performance, and proactive communication

  • Act as the operational leader that bridges frontline teams with executive strategy

Growth & Expansion Support

  • Prepare internal operations for expansion into the U.S.

  • Manage quality and accountability for subcontractor crews in multiple U.S. states

  • Ensure company standards are maintained across all entities and regions

Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in operations, plant management, or general management roles, preferably in custom manufacturing, construction, or engineered-to-order environments
  • Proven success overseeing multiple departments (engineering, manufacturing, PM, procurement, logistics, and installation) with full responsibility for operational performance
  • Experience managing teams of 50+ staff and leading independent contractors/subcontractors across multiple regions or countries
  • Strong understanding of low-volume, high-complexity production environments, ideally involving custom metal fabrication, modular construction, or architectural products
  • Track record of implementing SOPs, operational dashboards, and process improvements that lead to measurable gains in efficiency, throughput, or margin
  • Hands-on leadership style — must be comfortable spending time on the shop floor, resolving real-time production issues, and guiding frontline teams
  • Financial fluency — able to manage budgets, interpret P&L statements, and partner with finance teams to improve cost control, forecasting, and margin optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to align cross-functional teams, eliminate silos, and lead daily/weekly standups that drive accountability and communication
  • Experience preparing companies for expansion or leading operations during growth, including setting up infrastructure for U.S. or multi-entity operations
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or custom job management systems (e.g., JobBOSS, NetSuite, Syspro, or similar)
  • Strong leadership presence and people management skills, with the ability to coach and elevate mid-level managers into accountable, high-performing team leads
  • Willingness and ability to travel to U.S. job sites and lead distributed subcontractor teams
  • Construction safety and compliance awareness, especially in managing U.S. field crews under differing state-level rules
  • Bonus: Experience in procurement leadership or vendor negotiation in a supply chain-challenged environment
