Position Summary
We are seeking a focused and solution-oriented Collections Analyst to join our Finance team. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of complex customer accounts, those requiring tailored processes, exception handling, and proactive AR oversight. This role plays a critical part in both customer relationship management and process automation to streamline internal workflows. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical thinking, risk evaluation, and communication skills to drive resolution, improve collections performance, and foster collaborative relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management: Oversee a diverse portfolio of complex accounts, monitor account health, manage customer portals, and evaluate credit terms.
Collections Execution: Engage with customers to ensure invoicing accuracy, monitor payment status, and maintain strong relationships to improve cash flow.
Credit Oversight: Apply standardized credit procedures and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer experience.
Decision-Making: Assess risk and make timely, informed decisions on held orders, customer escalations, and payment arrangements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with branch teams, operations, and sales to ensure accurate billing and alignment with customer requirements.
Third-Party Collections: Manage relationships with external agencies, including proposals, settlements, and legal proceedings as necessary.
Administrative Management: Maintain accurate records, reporting, and status updates on payment activity and account changes.
Regulatory Awareness: Stay current on credit and collections legislation, including bankruptcy procedures and creditor rights.
Conflict Resolution: Navigate escalations with professionalism, balancing business risk with customer service expectations.
Process Improvement & Automation: Support system improvements, new software functionality, and process enhancements related to complex customer accounts.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in credit and collections, ideally within a commercial or high-volume environment.
Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency and working knowledge of credit management systems; experience leading system/process enhancements is a strong asset.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused but assertive approach.
Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurately in a fast-paced setting.
Analytical Thinking: Capable of evaluating complex account issues and delivering practical, results-driven solutions.
Initiative: Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability; able to work independently and within a team.
