Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) is looking for a skilled and passionate leader to join our team as the Manager of Health Information Management, Data Quality & Decision Support. Located in picturesque Central Ontario just 90 minutes north of Toronto, this is an opportunity to lead and inspire in a progressive and growing environment.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Vice President of Performance, Support Services and the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager of Health Information Management, Data Quality & Decision Support will play a lead role in the organization's decision support services and the day-to-day operations of the department of Health Information Management.

The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and improving the current health records & decision support model to support quality data, reporting, and to ensure it meets the needs of the organizations' various decision-making teams.

The Manager will oversee the Health Information Management team, including direct responsibility for record retention, chart completion, transcription services and CIHI Coding submissions (NARCS, DAD, CCRS, NRS) . The manager will be responsible for leading improvement projects related to these functions. The incumbent will participate or lead initiatives to enhance collaboration between Professional Staff, Nursing, Leaders, and Health Information Management & Decision Support teams, focusing on communication and education to highlight the importance of clinical documentation and reporting.

The position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills. The candidate will be expected to multi-task on a wide range of assignments, collaborate across all disciplines of the organization and handle matters in a confidential manner. These responsibilities shall be carried out in accordance with GBGH's strategic direction, objectives, values, policy and procedures, and applicable legislation and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with healthcare data sets (EMR dataset, Population Health dataset, Ministry of Health datasets, CIHI datasets).
  • Knowledge/experience with data visualization methods and technologies and business intelligence software such as Tableau, PowerBI, SSRS, Crystal Reports and/or SQL.
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or health/business administration is preferred
  • Experience as a Health Information Management analyst (HIM) or equivalent is an asset
  • Member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the health care field
  • Proven ability to collect and analyze data
  • Strong Ability to interpret and analyze data requests, provide guidance regarding data definitions and quality, extract data, and produce timely reports
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver analytical support and develop comprehensive data reports, encompassing forecasting, trend analysis, and benchmarking to inform both internal and external initiatives.
  • Has an ability to translate user's requirements into action and provide value driven analysis
  • Ability to problem solve independently & multi-task within a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
  • High degree of initiative and analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, ability to navigate ambiguity and sound judgement in the planning and management of complex projects
  • Demonstrate leadership skills including exemplary team building and coaching skills
  • Adheres to confidentiality and privacy requirements for sensitive financial and clinical information.

COMPENSATION

The salary for this role is $111,000 to $123,198.00. The successful candidate will also be eligible for up to 5% pay for performance. GBGH offers 100% employer-paid extended health benefits, an annual personal spending account, participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), and access to education grants.
