POSITION: Bookkeeper

JOB TYPE: Full Time

WAGE: $35.00-$40.00/Hour
LOCATION: Guy, AB

CLOSING DATE: August 10, 2025 or until suitable candidate is found

JOB SUMMARY:
Over the past 25 years, Gilbert Wolfe and his family have transformed their humble honey operation into Canadas largest organic apiary. What began as a small family granary is now a 40,000-square-foot production and distribution powerhouse with thousands of hives and 22 full-time employees. Through it all, the Wolfe family has remained committed to producing the highest quality organic honey, sourced entirely from the beautiful Peace River region.

We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our team. As the sole finance staff member, you will play a key role in managing the company's day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy, and supporting leadership with critical financial insights.

This opportunity offers the potential for a hybrid work arrangement for the right candidate, allowing flexibility to balance on-site and remote work.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper who enjoys autonomy, thrives in a hands-on role, and wants to contribute to a thriving local business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for review by management and external accountants.
  • Support preparation and monitoring of budgets, performing variance analysis as needed.
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring incoming and outgoing payments and preparing forecasts.
  • Process purchase invoices and perform inventory cost accounting to ensure accurate financial tracking.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors for tax preparation, year-end reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and maintain internal controls.
  • Provide financial insights to support business decisions and operational planning.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a small-to-medium size business.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (experience with Quickbooks, Sage or Ag Expert an asset).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or agriculture (considered an asset).

WHY JOIN US?

At Wolfe Honey, you'll be part of a family-owned company that has grown into a Canadian leader in organic honey production all while staying true to its roots in the Peace River region.

We offer:

  • Competitive wage of $35.00-$40.00 per hour
  • Extended health care coverage
  • Paid time off
  • Store discount on premium honey products
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment where your contributions make a real difference
