SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Department Manager, the Deli Supervisor ensures that the deli department is always performing effectively and efficiently, minding ICS's policies and procedures for all actions and decisions. Deli Supervisors will support and adhere to the mission and values of ICS.

- Mornings, Mid-day, Evenings, Holidays and Weekends Required
Reporting directly to the Department Manager, the Deli Supervisor ensures that the deli department is always performing in an effective and efficient manner, minding the Italian Centre Shop Ltd.'s policies and procedures for all actions and decisions. Deli Supervisors will support and adhere to the mission and values of Italian Centre Shop Ltd.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplary conduct for other staff.
- Lead by example to build departmental commitment to high standards of service.
- Encourage a positive team atmosphere that enables the team to meet or exceed goals and achieve consistently high levels of customer service.
- Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive resolution.
- Conduct one-on-one or small group training presentations for product knowledge, store activities, and established policies and procedures.
- Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to our standards and to set a positive example for your team.
- Assist with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
- Ensuring that the catering team and deli team carry out their daily tasks efficiently and effectively to achieve organizational goals.
- Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the catering team and deli Team, ensuring things run smoothly even in the manager's absence.
- Empowering catering team and deli team members with training on skills and abilities to boost their confidence, product knowledge, communication skills, and delivery in serving customers.
- Providing responsive, exceptional service to deli counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
- Provide and maintain a safe work environment, which includes safety training for staff when required.
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with other departments and with other stores.
- Respond and resolve employee issues, escalating them to the department and/or store manager as needed.
- Drive sales while honoring trends within the department.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Other duties as required.
Financial
- Assists with payroll for the department.
- Assists with the implementation of department plans and budgets, including maintaining labour budgets, achieved through effective scheduling, measuring results, allocating resources, reviewing progress, and making mid-course corrections as required.
- Provide input to strategic and tactical planning processes.
Team Building
- Builds a strong, cohesive team where employees feel they contribute and are valued.
- Grows their team and empowers employees to make decisions on their own.
- Delegates responsibilities to their employees.
- Identifies key performers and provides opportunities for growth, development, and advancement.
Staffing
- Supervises the work of the deli employees.
- Ensures schedules are completed and posted for employees in a timely manner.
- In conjunction with Human Resources, recruits and selects new deli staff.
- Holds monthly staff meetings to keep employees informed of operations and company news.
Employee Relations
- Provides employees with regular feedback on their performance.
- Follows up with staff on any breach of company policy and ensures proper progressive discipline forms are completed.
Training and Development
- Provides standardized training for all new and existing employees, including health and safety.
We'll train the right candidate, but most successful candidates have these:
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited school system or program is preferred.
- A minimum of one-year experience in a customer focused role is preferred.

Working conditions

- Frequent motions include bending, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Includes manual and repetitive tasks.
- Required to lift up to 22.5 kg (50 lbs) on a frequent basis.
