Location: Remote with occasional on-site meetings preferred (Toronto area)
Hours: 12 hours per week, typically split over two weekdays (e.g., Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs, during 9–3 or 10–4 ET)
Duration: 6 months starting mid-August
Conversion Opportunity: Unlikely but possible if project volume grows
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced freelance or consulting Digital Communication & Marketing Specialist to support a 6-month maternity leave. This role focuses on creating bilingual (English/French) marketing and employee communication assets to drive engagement with a health and wellness platform.
You'll work closely with Sales, Account Management, and Operations teams to design clear, compelling, and creative digital materials that help employees understand and interact with platform features. Expect to work about 8–10 hours per week on design (using Adobe Creative Suite) and ~2 hours on adapting or finalizing content provided by the team.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants flexible, part-time work on a small but highly creative team that values fresh ideas and strong visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
Design digital collateral (brochures, graphics, videos) in both English and French to promote platform usage and health/wellness content
Work with Account Management and Implementation teams to create launch materials and ongoing communication pieces for client campaigns
Adapt existing templates and create new ones to meet diverse client needs
Collaborate with Sales on polished sales collateral
Use digital tools to deliver communications and measure engagement (open/click rates, etc.)
Offer creative ideas to make employee benefits communications more engaging and user-friendly
Attend occasional on-site creative meetings as needed
Qualifications:
~5+ years of experience in digital marketing, design, or communications (formal education optional if experience is strong)
Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Fluent in English and ideally French Canadian (strongly preferred due to bilingual deliverable requirements)
Demonstrated experience creating compelling, simple, and clear marketing materials for varied audiences
Experience adapting and customizing templates for different brands or clients
Comfort working independently, managing time across 12 flexible hours per week
Key Soft Skills:
Strong listener – able to understand needs from Sales and Account Management
Clear, simple communicator – translating complex ideas into accessible visuals and text
Creative risk-taker – willing to “push the envelope” with design, words, and overall approach to deliver a modern digital experience
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in digital marketing for employee engagement or wellness campaigns
Background in event marketing or other creative, audience-focused industries
Familiarity with digital platforms that deliver health/wellness or HR content
Schedule & Expectations:
~12 hours per week (split over 2 days; exact days flexible)
Remote work encouraged with ability to attend occasional on-site creative sessions
Majority of team is on Eastern Time; preference for work hours between ~9 AM and 4 PM ET
Note:
This is a consultant/freelancer role for a maternity leave coverage. The team is looking for a fresh perspective—ideally someone with a marketing/creative background rather than traditional benefits communications experience.
