The Business Analyst will focus on process documentation and process improvement for the Client Reporting - Tax team. As a key member of the team, the individual will be responsible for analyzing current processes, identifying areas for improvement, documenting and implementing best practices to support accurate and timely tax client reporting. This role focuses on identifying process inefficiencies, optimizing workflows, and improving documentation for tax-related reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to streamline reporting processes, optimize tax-related workflows, and ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations. WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Work collectively with the various stakeholders Client Reporting-Tax team and our business partners to document current workflows and processes under each pillar workstream
  • Conduct business analysis, understand and document business objectives and requirements, perform gap analysis and recommendations on improved processes
  • Bring a high level of product knowledge and business expertise in order to analyze, identify, evaluate and recommend improvements to business functions and processes
  • Effectively lead meetings and group discussions with project Client Reporting-Tax team members and stakeholders our business partners as needed to ensure collaboration on deliverables
  • Provide guidance to relevant business units on the data entry points that impact tax reporting deliverables
  • Work collectively with IT and other lines of business to represent Client Reporting-Tax for enhancements and new product offerings
  • Ensure business requirements are clearly, accurately, and thoroughly documented and understood, as needed for enhancements to the tax process
  • Pro-actively identify opportunities for improvements in client reporting-tax, tax knowledge, and efficiencies
  • Review and update CI Knowledge client reporting-tax articles
  • Develop and document procedures and create reference materials for Client Reporting-Tax
  • Monitor the Team inbox and provide research-based support to other departments on tax related inquiries
  • Continual review of tax key processes to ensure relevance based on regulatory changes
  • Ensure timely delivery of tax documents based on regulatory requirements and client expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Minimum of 2 year related working experience in the Mutual Funds/Security industry
  • Previous Business Analyst experience an asset
  • Experience with Canadian and US Tax Reporting an asset
  • Post Secondary Education
  • Canadian Securities Course or IFIC Operations Course an asset
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles with a focus on account reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of CI products or Assante back office processes an asset
  • Knowledge of testing practices and procedures an asset
  • Bilingual in French and English an asset
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines with strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in business writing
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to “think outside of the box”
  • Excellent and proven time management skills
