POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Millwork Designer (Engineer) reports directly to the Engineering Manager. In addition to performing the roles of a standard Millwork Engineer when required, the Senior Millwork Engineer is expected to guide and mentor the rest of the Engineering Team through projects, as well as define and audit processes that should be followed by the team.

You will be responsible for the production and completion of drawings that correctly interpret the clients needs, are within budget for internal teams, and are ready for manufacturing. Every facet of a drawing should be confirmed and ready to link directly to the smart shop when appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design of millwork solutions to meet clients' needs, using existing product library or developing new product.
  • Development of software templates, smart functions in CAD systems to streamline the design process.
  • Coordinating with production staff to create DFM product optimized to existing tooling.
  • Be the primary resource and point of contact for all internal teams for your given area of responsibility.
  • Assist in the definition and auditing of processes and standard operating procedures to be followed by the Engineering team.
  • Manage schedule, prioritization, and deadline adherence to your given scope of work (Projects, Product Development, New Corporate Programs, Rollouts, etc.).
  • Elevate high-level concerns to the Engineering Manager and communicate expectations and issues effectively so they can be properly actioned.
  • Coordinate with, and manage the quality of, external support teams or outsource vendors.
  • Training and development of new team members.
  • Bill of Material, Material Requisitioning and ERP management for your scope of work when applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years' experience as an architectural millwork engineer
  • 3+ years' experience with 3D Modeling software is preferred (SolidWorks, Inventor, TopSOLID)
  • 3+ years' experience with 2D Modeling software is preferred (AutoCAD, Draftsight)
  • Minimum 1 year of shop experience as a cabinet maker or architectural millwork installer is preferred
  • Ability to review Architectural drawings, contract documents & specifications
  • 1+ years experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Project Management or Coordination experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of AWMAC Standard is considered as an asset
  • LEED certification or knowledge is preferable but not mandatory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all staff levels; ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Extensive technical and problem-solving experience

WORK CONDITIONS

  • In-Person First Workplace - approximately 1 day/week remote based on role requirements
  • Will be required to remain stationary at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • At times, required to conduct walkthroughs or inspections in production/factory settings containing loud noises (Use of Personal Protective Equipment is necessary).
