The Opportunity:The SQL Server Database Developer is responsible for developing solutions in our SQL environment to support our business applications and BI Reporting platforms. You will have a strong understanding of business concepts with working knowledge in key technical tools. This position works within a team that has an impact on all divisions in the company and there is room for growth.
The individual will place a high emphasis on process improvement and logical problem-solving, using in-depth analysis of the problem statement and working diligently to build out robust reporting solutions. Furthermore, the candidate will have excellent analytical skills, an ability to summarize data in a simple manner and a desire to work closely in cross-functional teams.
The chosen candidate will be a critical thinker with the ability to work independently to complete a wide range of analysis while also being able to work in a team to collaborate and support on a wide variety of profit-related initiatives. What You Will Get From the Role:

Key Accountabilities:SQL Server Database Development (90%)
  • Develop, test, and maintain SQL Server stored procedures, functions, tables, views, and triggers relating to vendor supported applications and custom written .NET applications.
  • Create, maintain, and deploy reports in SSRS, PowerBI and vendor reporting solution.
  • Champion the automation processes to create workflows with SSIS in order to manage the data warehouse.
  • Automate processes and create workflows with SSIS.
  • Use SSAS to design Dimensions, Measures, and Roles.
  • Write complex SQL queries, functions, and triggers.
  • Implement improvement modifications to complex and verbose stored procedures.
  • Identify KPI's required and add them to dashboards such as PowerBI / Analyzer.
  • Use knowledge of SSRS and report design to create and deploy reports.
  • Analyze and implement solutions to optimize slow performing queries or procedures.
  • Provide support for on-demand data requests from user groups.
  • Participate in team meetings to gather requirements and develop BI solutions suited to business needs.
  • Provide data management support to .NET development team.
  • Maintain documentation on system and process flow modifications.
  • Perform after hours support and system upgrades when necessary ensuring critical
  • systems/functions are operational.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Process Improvement and Implementation – 10%
  • Apply process improvement methodologies to process improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on AI and Machine Learning techniques
  • Prepare process recommendation documents including presentations, process models, supporting metrics, business requirements and related impact analysis.
  • Assist in the implementation of new processes with necessary stakeholders. This may include but is not limited to documenting all new processes, creating measurable goals for success, training end users, acting as point of contact for troubleshooting and ongoing process management.

What You Need To Be Successful In This Role:
  • Diploma/Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five years of experience developing and supporting in SQL Server environment.
  • Experience with SSIS Package management
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • Proficiency in system analysis and design.
  • Experience maintaining complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL 2008+, with a solid understanding of SQL permissions to maintain high level of data security.
  • Experience with Low Code Development applications such as Alteryx or Knime an asset.
Required Skills:
