M&A Analyst

About the Opportunity

As an M&A Analyst, you'll be at the forefront of identifying and initiating conversations with potential acquisition targets and brokers, while gaining hands-on experience in valuation, market research, due diligence, and transaction execution. This is a unique opportunity for early-career professionals to develop practical skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquisition Outreach and Deal Sourcing (Primary Focus):
    Research and identify potential acquisition targets that align with strategic objectives; support the outreach process by drafting and sending communications, tracking responses, and maintaining CRM records.

  • Broker and Investment Banker Outreach and Relationship Management (Secondary Focus):
    Identify, outreach, market to, and build relationships with brokers and IBs across Canada; support the outreach process by drafting and sending communications, tracking responses, and maintaining CRM records.

  • Target Company Profiling:
    Compile high-level profiles of prospective targets based on publicly available data, industry research, and financial indicators to assess initial fit and prioritize outreach efforts.

  • Market Mapping and Industry Research:
    Analyze market landscapes to identify trends, competitive positioning, and potential acquisition clusters within targeted verticals.

  • Valuation and Financial Analysis:
    Support the collection and preliminary review of financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows); assist with comparable company and precedent transaction research for valuation purposes.

  • Due Diligence Preparation:
    Help organize data and documentation requests for ongoing deals; support review of company information related to financials, operations, and legal considerations.

  • Data Room and Documentation Management:
    Assist in maintaining secure data rooms and organizing deal-related materials for easy access and proper version control.

  • Presentation and Reporting:
    Contribute to internal presentations and reports with clear summaries, charts, and financial insights; proofread materials to ensure professionalism and consistency.

  • Process Coordination and Admin Support:
    Schedule and coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders, track ongoing conversations with target companies, and maintain up-to-date deal pipeline information.

  • Market Monitoring:
    Stay informed on current M&A activity, valuation trends, and news relevant to our core industries.

About You

Compensation

The annual pay range for this role is expected to be between $60,000-$80,000 CAD; actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. This role is also eligible for the company bonus program.
