About the Company:
- Our client is a well-established, highly respected commercial furniture dealership based in Toronto. Known for their strong relationships with top architects, designers, and end users, they deliver high-impact workplace solutions across corporate, institutional, and commercial sectors. As they continue to grow, they're looking to add a Director of Design to lead their design department and shape the creative vision of the firm.
- Lead the design team and oversee creative direction across all client projects
- Work closely with sales and project management teams to align design strategies with client goals
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate designers
- Develop and refine internal design processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency
- Represent the design team in client presentations, pitches, and design charrettes
- Maintain awareness of design trends, materials, and industry standards
- Oversee quality control and ensure deliverables meet company and client expectations
- Degree or diploma in Interior Design or related field
- 8+ years of experience in commercial/workplace design
- Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship role
- Strong knowledge of office furniture systems and dealership design processes
- Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, CET Designer, SketchUp, or similar
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and project coordination abilities
