We are currently seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to be a key member of our high-performing, diverse, and innovative consulting team.

The Opportunity:

The Project Controls Manager will lead the successful planning, execution, and control of large-scale capital and infrastructure projects across sectors such as construction, energy, transportation, and commercial development. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost, schedule, risk, and performance monitoring, ensuring consistent delivery of high-value project controls services to clients and internal teams.

This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position based in Toronto, Ontario.

Role Description:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for project controls teams supporting complex capital and infrastructure projects.

  • Lead the development and implementation of project controls plans, tools, and processes in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.

  • Manage the preparation, updating, and analysis of integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and other scheduling tools.

  • Oversee cost control processes including budget development, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting in alignment with client expectations and financial governance.

  • Direct risk management activities, ensuring proactive identification, mitigation, and tracking of project risks across cost and schedule dimensions.

  • Lead earned value management (EVM) implementation and reporting to evaluate project performance and efficiency.

  • Perform high-level schedule logic analysis, identify critical path issues, and propose corrective action plans.

  • Manage change control processes, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of changes to cost, scope, and schedule.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting on schedule, budget, and risk performance, producing dashboards and executive-level summaries.

  • Mentor, train, and supervise project controls consultants and analysts, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for client stakeholders on all project controls matters, building strong relationships and trust.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge development, standards implementation, and quality assurance reviews.

  • Support proposal development, resourcing, and the onboarding of new project controls assignments.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, contractual obligations, and industry standards.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices across the function.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of total project experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role within project controls.

  • Proven experience managing project controls functions on large-scale or complex infrastructure, energy, or capital projects is an asset.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.

  • Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP, CRMA, PSP) are preferred.

  • Expertise in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Office suite (esp. MS Excel).

  • Experience with leading cost control systems.

  • Extensive knowledge of earned value management and similar monitoring techniques.

  • Advanced knowledge in cost estimation, budget management, scheduling, and risk analysis

  • Extensive experience in developing and managing WBS and CBS on a variety of project scopes.

  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies, including risk management and change control processes.

  • Experience in a consulting environment or managing client relationships in a project delivery context.

  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build trust and maintain relationships at senior levels.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex project controls data in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

  • Flexibility to work in an office environment and travel as required to client sites.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on industry best practices and project controls methodologies.

  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as required.

  • This role is based in Toronto, Ontario. Candidates must be able to commute or willing to relocate independently.
