Job Overview
The Manager of Procurement is accountable for the execution of the Credit Unions purchasing processes and ongoing vendor management guidelines, while leading procurement efforts to efficiently and effectively maximize value throughout the supply chain.
Role
- Lead the management and monitoring of procurement protocols, including initial contact with business owners all the way to completion of the procurement life cycle.
- Manage daily department functions and maintain the procurement database for all purchase requests.
- Partner with the Credit Unions Legal Department on third-party contracts as required.
- Ensure third party relationships are aligned to the Credit Unions core values and business requirements.
- Lead competitive procurement strategies and solicitation processes, executing RFP/RFQ/RFI processes, and supporting all areas of the business to ensure proper vendor due-diligence has been completed.
- Monitor on compliance to Credit Union policies pertaining to Procurement.
- Ensure Level of Authority - Operationally (and/or Project) is conformed to and all commitments are approved.
- Play a key role in the vendor due-diligence committee.
- Liaise regularly with department heads and various stakeholders to ensure operational compliance.
- Participate in vendor negotiations, as required.
- Assist with risk management activities to ensure vendor risks are mitigated appropriately.
- Attend industry meetings and conferences as a representative of FirstOntario.
- Provide department level reporting on current initiatives and expense reduction results.
- Consider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the overall well-being of your team and others.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills
- Post-secondary degree or diploma and 3 to 5 years' experience in strategic sourcing or vendor management
- Strong work ethic with the ability to think critically
- Innately demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience drafting high-quality solicitation documents and internal reports
- Be extremely detail-oriented
- Have the demonstrated ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
- Be quick to respond to requests for service from all of your clients
- Inherently demonstrate a high level of integrity and be trustworthy
- Innately demonstrate superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills that you can adjust to your audience
- Use your courage to take action in difficult and challenging situations and deal with uncertainty
- Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, and FirstOntario policies and procedures
- Be willing to work flexible hours
