The Care Company is looking for an awesome, self-driven Register Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to assist us with evening, overnight, and weekend support for pediatric homecare clients in the York Region (Vaughan and Richmond Hill area).

Shifts

We have multiple clients in this area who are looking for care. Please see below for scheduling details and read carefully before applying:

  • Evening shifts: range from 3pm-11:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (family is open to multiple nurses for coverage)
  • Overnight shifts: 9pm-6am Fridays and Sundays (family is looking for one nurse to cover both shifts)
  • Weekend shifts: 11:15am-115pm Saturdays
  • Both clients are looking for nurses to join their care teams as long-term partners. Please only apply if you can provide consistent availability and commit to a set ongoing schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs (hygiene assistance, bathing, and medications administration) that is within the scope of practice for a Register Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
  • Provide exceptional patient care as outlined in their care plans, supporting patients with all applicable medical needs
  • Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly
  • Assists clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises as required
  • Observe the patients' medical health as well as their physical and mental responses
  • Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description
  • Completes records and documentation accurately and thoroughly

Requirements

Required to have previous experience with at least one (1) of the following interventions, paediatric experience is preferred:

  • G and J tube feeding
  • CPAP/BIPAP
  • Cough assist
  • Oral and nasal suctioning
  • Catheter care
  • Seizure Monitoring
  • Oxygenation

Other requirements include:

  • An asset if you own vehicle and have a valid driver's licence (not required)
  • Negative TB Test completed within the last year
  • CNO Registration and Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Certificate
  • COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Valid WHMIS2015 certification from the last year
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
