St. Leonard's is currently seeking a Relief Case Worker who are available to work a flexible schedule in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program. As a member of this interdisciplinary team, you will provide support services and crisis intervention to adults with a developmental disability, as well as administrative duties as assigned. Your responsibilities will include assessing clients skills and needs particularly with regard to their mental health, developmental delay, fetal alcohol spectrum, acquired brain injury and addiction issues. In addition, you will also provide advocacy on behalf of clients involved in the criminal justice system or at a high risk of involvement. You will liaise with other team members to coordinate care for clients. In addition to the clinical elements of the position, you will be responsible to ensure the safety and security of the clients, other staff and the community during your work days.
You will be able to work with staff and clients from adult developmental populations and contribute to program development. You will provide education, support, and supervision to other staff or students as applicable. This position does not include personal support type work (PSW) and is focused on behavioral support and activities of daily living in our client's lives. This position also requires a valid G2 or G class license and your own vehicle.
This position is located in the community and you will be expected to regularly travel between SLCS facilities and to community locations.
The role and schedule for this position will require availability in providing client care during all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Our shifts would be between the hours of 8am - 10pm, with the option to outline what hours you would be available. We are flexible around school and other work commitments!
Required Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma or working towards completion
- Experience in supporting individuals with developmental delays, disabilities or dual diagnosis (Preferred)
- Standard First Aid /CPR - Level C
- Valid G2 or G class Drivers License and a reliable vehicle
- Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.+
