Position: CDC Foods General Manager

Reports To: Owners

Anticipated Start Date: March 15, 2022

SUMMARY:

The General Manager should be well-versed in all business matters. They should be a competent leader able to provide guidance that enhances performance in a manner that incorporates the Company's vision and culture. The goal will be to ensure the profitability of our Company's activities to drive sustainable development and long-term success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop goals and objectives that tend to growth and prosperity
  • Design and implement business plans and strategies to promote the attainment of goals
  • Review financial statements, sales, or activity reports to identify areas needing cost reduction or improvements and to ensure the Company is on track to meet its annual financial goals
  • Direct and coordinate activities with departments concerned with pricing, sales, or distribution of products
  • Responsible for administrative tasks such as inventory management and costing, updating price lists, and trade notifications
  • Direct administrative activities related to providing products or services to clients, customers, and staff
  • Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients and forge new ones to add to the Company's re-distribution basket of goods
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Analyze data to inform operational decisions or activities
  • Direct the purchasing and warehouse teams for both the Company and 3PL warehouses
  • Supervise the work of employees and provide feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure adherence to legal rules and guidelines, particularly Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Other duties as required

The successful candidates must possess the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience as a business manager or relevant role
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and accounting/inventory software programs
  • Excellent mathematical aptitude
  • Good understanding of research methods and data analysis techniques
  • Financial intelligence
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Creative and innovative
  • Degree in post-secondary education in Business Management or relevant field is a definite asset

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment.
  • Stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.
  • May have possible exposure to dust and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
