About the Team
The Finance team is responsible for financial reporting and control, tax and compliance, strategic planning and financial Planning & analysis, Treasury and working capital management, capital budgeting, and Risk management. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, this position supports the monthly accounting cycles and provide administrative and adhoc support to the finance team.
This is a hybrid role requiring working two (2) days in the office and three (3) days remotely, per week. (All remote work must be completed from your home office within the province of Ontario.)
Responsibilities include:
- Providing administrative and financial support to the finance team, including clerical bookkeeping and journal entries (bank fees, depreciation, etc).
- Performing cash administration activities such as handling EFT rejections and returns, and reconciling cash clearing accounts.
- Reviewing and approving Concur expense reports.
- Serving as backup for accounts payable functions, including managing cheque runs and electronic funds transfers (EFT) for all pay cycles.
- Reconciling general ledger accounts such as accounts payable and prepaid expenses.
- Preparing expense review reports for the Board and CEO.
- Performing project cost analysis and maintenance of the PPE register.
- Serving as backup for cash deposit activities, including receiving and recording cheque deposits.
- Performing ad-hoc tasks, including system testing, implementation assessments, and conducting detailed ad-hoc analyses as required.
A great candidate for this position will have:
- Minimum Community College or Bachelor's Degree in accounting or business
- 2+ years of working experience with strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Detailed-oriented individual who demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong computer skills required including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Self-starter with the ability to balance multiple assignments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with various Finance applications and reporting tools, such as: Peoplesoft FMS, Web intelligence/Business object or similar software, would be an asset.
- Knowledge of property and casualty insurance industry is desirable
