Position SummaryUnder the direction of the On Call Supervisor, the Emergency After Hours (EAH) Worker is responsible for responding to all calls received by the Agency outside of normal office hours. The EAH Worker delivers a broad range of child welfare services including intake, assessment, and clinical intervention with children and their families. The EAH Worker is required to conduct investigations of abuse and neglect, offer crisis intervention services, provide emergency financial assistance, admit children to care, and ensure that children living either in their own home, or children in the care of the Agency, are safe and protected. Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Be familiar with and provide services that comply with relevant legislation, ministry regulations / standards, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in conducting intake, assessment, investigations, and clinical interventions.
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with agency, ministry and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with other staff, agencies and professionals in the provision of, and advocacy for, services to children and their families.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer skills required.
Qualifications:
  • Must be an Authorized Child Welfare Worker.
  • Must possess S.S.W. diploma or B.S.W. / M.S.W. degree. Prefeferred, 2-3 years of experience in social work.
  • Training in non-violent crisis intervention, suicide intervention, mental health first aid.
  • Applicants with similar academic qualifications and related experience may be considered.
Required:
  • Must possess a valid Class G Ontario Driver's Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and minimum of $1000 000.00 Liability.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check, Internal Records Check and Driver's Abstract.
