Currently recruiting for an EHS Specialist for a Tier 1 Automotive company located in the Brampton area. As the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring that the workplace adheres to environmental regulations and safety standards, promoting a safe and healthy working environment for employees. In summary, an EHS Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that a company operates safely and responsibly, protecting the health and well-being of employees and minimizing the environmental impact of the company's operations.
Responsibilities:
- Environmental Management: Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures.
- Training and Education: Conduct training sessions for employees on environmental, health, and safety practices. Ensure employees are aware of and understand safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including chemical spills, fires, and natural disasters.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with EHS policies and regulations. Identify areas for improvement and work with management to implement changes
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, training, and incidents.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Common fields of study include Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related discipline. Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) are beneficial.
- Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in an EHS leadership role in the manufacturing industry or similar. Automotive or Plastic experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001/ISO/45001 standards
· Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices. Knowledge of environmental laws
- Comfortable with travelling to other company sites.
