ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Additional Work Requests (AWR) Manager is based out of a facility located in Ashton, Ontario and will report directly to the Facility Manager. The AWR Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination and execution of Additional Work Requests (small projects).
The successful candidate must hold a valid Government of Canada Secret (Level II) Clearance or have the ability to obtain the required clearance prior to job commencement.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop project scopes, project schedules, and project estimates.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including budgets, schedules, scope statements, project plans, and safety records.
- Coordinate, assign, and supervise B&M personnel across various trades, including HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, refrigeration, carpentry, and other self-delivered services.
- Determine workforce requirements and coordinate activities among internal teams, Defence Construction Canada (DCC), and The Department of National Defence (DND) to ensure timely completion of AWRs.
- Oversee and manage subcontractor performance, including assignment, coordination, and supervision of work.
- Facilitate the creation of project work orders, purchase orders, and invoice processing to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Ensure all work meets established standards for quality, safety, security, and environmental compliance.
- Communicate effectively with clients and facility occupants to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the Quality Control Officer to conduct in-process and final inspections, and support resolution of quality issues and non-conformances.
- Conduct job showings with approved subcontractors, manage the RFQ process, award contracts, and track project costs and billing.
- Maintain and expand a pool of pre-qualified subcontractors, manage security clearance processes, and ensure subcontractors are properly registered in the ERP system.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety protocols throughout all phases of AWR execution.
- Promptly address and document safety concerns, ensuring compliance with contractual timelines.
- Prepare and submit monthly Subcontractor Status Reports in accordance with contract requirements.
- Meet regularly with clients to review progress and ensure satisfaction.
- Report on Key Result Areas (KRAs) and other divisional metrics, including cost tracking, analysis, and trend reporting.
- Escort subcontractors on-site as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Gold Seal Certification (GSC) in Construction Management is considered a strong asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction or facilities management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or project management role.
- Experience managing multi-trade teams and subcontractors in a commercial, institutional, or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control.
- Familiarity with the Department of National Defence (DND) or Defence Construction Canada (DCC) processes is an asset.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work with strict timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
- Valid class G driver's license is mandatory.
- Bilingualism (French/English) would be an asset.
- Must be able to attain Secret Level Security Clearance.
