Technical Support Manager

Position Details

Location: Hybrid – Remote & Cambridge Head Office

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Reports To: Operations Manager / Owner

Direct Reports: 2

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 annually

Vacation: 3 weeks

Benefits: Standard health benefits after 3 months

Pension/RRSP: Contribution matching after 3 months

Vehicle: KM allowance provided

About the Role

As a Technical Support Manager at Brown's Auto Supply, you'll be the go-to expert for our customers, providing hands-on technical support and guidance for coating and preparation systems. You'll manage key customer-facing projects, lead technical initiatives, and ensure our clients receive top-tier service and solutions. This role is ideal for someone with deep industry knowledge, a passion for problem-solving, and a knack for building strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to coatings and equipment
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot systems and software
  • Provide daily and on-demand support to customers
  • Lead technical audits and guide internal teams toward annual goals
  • Maintain detailed records in our CRM and generate technical reports
  • Educate customers and internal teams through training and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with supplier standards and safety protocols
  • Support sales efforts by identifying new opportunities and conducting outreach

What You Bring

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of paint and coating systems
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms
  • Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM tools
  • Leadership: Experience guiding and mentoring team members
  • Self-Motivation: A proactive, independent approach to work

Qualifications

  • Education: College diploma in business or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience: 5+ years in the collision industry (preferred)
  • License: Valid G2 license with a clean driving record

  • 3M Repair Stack
  • Skyline, Spire
  • Akzo Nobel, PPG
  • Equipment supplier certifications

Working Conditions

  • Office-based and on-site at customer locations across Southern Ontario
  • Travel required using a personal vehicle

  • Adherence to health and safety standards
  • Achievement of monthly sales targets
  • Up-to-date product knowledge and recommendations
