Job Description
The Business Energy Advisor will work directly in the field with small and medium-sized businesses in the Okanagan region to deliver onsite and virtual energy assessments and energy efficiency education visits, to help these entities to conserve energy, reduce their environmental impacts, and cut costs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person visits with small- and medium-sized businesses to perform energy assessments and identify energy efficiency opportunities across lighting, HVAC and other systems.
- Provide tailored education on energy conservation programs, practices and available financial incentives or rebate programs.
- Develop clear, actionable reports that outline prioritized measures, estimated savings, and next steps, framed for non-technical audiences.
- Present findings to clients and address questions or concerns to support decision-making and project uptake.
- Track engagement activities, assessment data, customer feedback, and follow-up actions in internal CRM or reporting tools.
- Maintain regular communication with internal team members and program administrators to flag complex cases, ensure timely processing, and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Professionally represent the organization when working with diverse businesses and community stakeholders.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 1 year of demonstrated experience with Level 1 and Level 2 energy audits.
- Understanding of how to communicate about energy and energy efficiency
- Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm related to energy efficiency (work/volunteer experience)
- A keen interest in and understanding of sustainability issues
- Excellent oral and written business communications skills
- Customer service
- Familiarity and knowledge of energy-efficient technologies
- Experience using G Suite
Education and Certification Requirements
You must possess a degree in a STEM or business field and have additional education or experience in the following areas:
- Engineering
- Sustainability
- Demand-Side Energy Efficiency & Conservation
- Energy Management

6-month Contract, Full-time
Salary/Wage
$55 - $65k per annum.
A comprehensive, flexible benefits plan is available after three months of employment.
Hours Per Week
40
