In the realm of hotel accounting, a dedicated team arose as the "Guardians of the Financial Galaxy." Their mission was clear: to protect The Atlas Hotel's financial assets from the perils of "Financial Chaos." These skilled Accountants tackled budget discrepancies and invoice errors with precision, ensuring that every dollar was accurately recorded and every financial statement shone brightly.

Now, the Guardians of the Financial Galaxy seek to expand their ranks byinviting a new hero to join their noble mission a Senior Accountant, who will report directly to the hotels General Manager. Your Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll for hotel staff
  • Calculate and remit GST and PST payments in compliance with provincial and federal regulations
  • Prepare accurate and timely month-end financial statements
  • Manage cheque and EFT processing for supplier payments
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and consolidate the hotels annual budget
  • Coordinate and support the year-end audit process in partnership with the external accounting firm
  • Review, issue and approve T4 slips and year-end payroll documentation for all hotel staff
  • Oversee the administration and overall benefits process

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Completion of a recognized accounting designation (CPA or in progress) and/or 35 years of relevant accounting experience in a hospitality or service-based industry
  • Required: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.); solid understanding of accounting principles and payroll processes; ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Beneficial: Experience with accounting software such as Sage 300, and workforce management platform like Payworks is beneficial
  • ERP/financial systems; familiarity with budgeting and audit preparation processes
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to collaborate across departments and interpret financial documents effectively
  • Availability: This is a full-time position, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required during month-end or audit periods

The successful candidate will lead two fellow Guardians-in-Trainingour Accounting Assistant and Accounting Clerkon their quest for financial order, while also taking on special missions and side quests (a.k.a. projects or duties) as assigned by management.
