You're an aspiring interior designer looking for a supportive, close-knit boutique firm where you'll have the opportunity to work autonomously while growing your career. You're driven to create beautiful spaces and love contributing your outside-of-the-box ideas.
We're Jessica Kelly Design, a full-service interior design firm that specializes in creating contemporary spaces infused with architectural character. With a decade of experience in the business, we've developed special relationships with trusted and highly skilled trades, craftsmen, and suppliers. We've also been recognized and featured in some of Canada's leading design publications. We're looking for a new Associate Designer to join our team. If you're ready to join a dynamic team of passionate individuals creating cutting-edge design, we want to hear from you.
Associate Designer
As our new Associate Designer, your primary goal is to wear several hats as our owner's right-hand. Because we're a small firm, you'll have the opportunity to provide support to a broad spectrum of tasks relating to our residential and commercial clients. Your day-to-day work will be largely self-directed. You're well-equipped in dealing with clients and trades and feel comfortable managing projects from start to finish.
Your main responsibilities will vary anywhere from sourcing fabrics, materials, and products to designing floor plans, kitchens, bathrooms, millwork, and custom furniture, along with developing presentations and client binders. You'll be involved in each step of the design process, from the initial concept and planning to the final reveal.
You're a perfect fit for this role if you're:
- Self-motivated – you see every new task as an opportunity to learn and grow. You learn by doing, and love to jump right into new tasks.
- Extremely Detail-oriented – you understand that small things have a large impact.
- An exceptional communicator – you can adjust your style to suit your audience and achieve clarity in every medium.
- Professional – you know your audience and come prepared, presentable, and on time to every meeting.
- Reliable – people trust you because you do what you say you'll do. You master the art of the follow-up.
- Organized – you're brilliant at balancing multiple, competing priorities, and achieving results are your number one priority.
The Details
This is a part-time position with a competitive wage. You'll have the opportunity to go full-time based on your performance. On Mondays, we meet at one of Toronto's trendiest communal workspaces, where we plan out our week. From there, we could be on a job site, working from home, or on the road. Hours will vary depending on projects; on average, you'll clock about 40 hours a month.
Why Work Here?
- We have fun – we hold holiday outings and get-togethers in the summer. It's important for us to spend time with one another outside of work and build relationships.
- Variety – no day is the same as the last. Time flies when you get to use all of your creativity and skills from inception to completion.
- Growth – the opportunity to grow with us is endless. Based on your performance, you have the ability to become a permanent part of the team.
