DEFINITION:

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor or Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture, or designate, the "Recreation Clerk - Casual" provides front line customer service including program registration, admission of patrons to the facility, maintains records, reconciles and balances cash transactions, performs clerical duties and deals effectively with the public. This position is located at either or both of the Terrace Aquatic Centre or the Sportsplex

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  1. Be first point of contact to the public; answer public enquiries about the Aquatic or Recreation Facility (Sportsplex) Centre, programmes and schedules;
  2. Operate point of sales (POS) system;
  3. Receive cash, perform all cash procedures including issuing receipts and credit card transactions, record and balance daily cash transactions, and prepare reports, as required, as well as issue facility passes and registrations utilizing Active Net;
  4. Know and follow emergency procedures;
  5. Assist in maintaining and overseeing lobby, washrooms and change room use
  6. Perform janitorial duties, as assigned;
  7. Other related duties, as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Completion of Grade 12;
  2. Minimum of one year related experience, in either retail and/or bookkeeping/clerical;
  3. Ability to operate related software and equipment;
  4. Computer experience, preferably in a Windows environment, and Active Net software;
  5. Accurate typing speed of 55 wpm;
  6. Some janitorial experience;
  7. First Aid certification;
  8. Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;
  9. Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;
  10. Good written and oral communication skills.

A criminal record check will be required to be provided by all potential successful applicants to this position prior to it being awarded.
