There are 3 casual Food Service Worker positions available starting on July 13, 2025, working various hours per week - Smart serve would be essential.
Your Role:
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Food Services delivers exceptional and caring service to residents from independent living to memory care. Takes resident orders and serves resident meals in a timely fashion. Maintains the confidentiality of information relating to residents and their families. Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Village.
Tasks:
Customer Service:
- Supports residents during service including seating residents, plating, and cutting food if required, pouring drinks, etc.
- Provides residents with information regarding food ingredients and availability.
- Understands individual dietary restrictions and preferences; ensures appropriate meals are offered based on dietary preferences, restrictions and cultural needs.
- Provides room service to resident suites as required.
- Responds to resident complaints and reports to leadership when appropriate.
- Answers questions from guests and family members.
- Serve alcohol as per Smart Serve rules and regulations.
- Aware of meals that are being served for specific observances.
Administration:
- Completes meal attendance for each meal.
- Documents in logbook any resident issues, concerns, or behavioral changes.
- Organizes reservations as required.
- Operates the Point-of-Sale system, balancing visa/debit, and cash purchases for the Village store and Martins restaurant.
Cleaning & Set-Up:
- Required to complete all job duties within assigned section.
- Clears and sanitizes tables in a timely manner.
- Restocks items as required in assigned section as directed.
- Sets up dining room between meals and seatings.
- Maintains high level of cleanliness in the dining room, server area, and kitchen, leaving spaces as they should be found.
- Removes garbage from the dining room and disposes it in appropriate bins.
- Adheres to food safety regulations, helping to create simple dishes such as salads.
- Assists with dishwashing as required.
- Assists with the tearing down of the servery steam table.
Your Talents and Experience:
Have a genuine interest in working with the seniors population and demonstrate empathy for the needs of seniors, their families and the professionals engaged in their care. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide excellent service to residents. Safe food handling and Smart Serve certificate are an asset. Committed to working as part of a team to support and increase quality customer service. Must be willing to learn new skills and take direction. Alignment with the agencys commitment to antiracism and anti-oppression. Demonstrates a passion and willingness to learn for antiracism and anti-oppression practices.
