We are looking for a post-secondary Marketing and Communications placement student to joinour Corporate Services Team! The student will work with Communications & ResourceDevelopment to help increase mental health awareness to decrease stigma associated withmental illness and addictions, using latest media practices.


Status: Student Placement position geared towards students looking to complete placementhours, beginning in Fall 2025.


Salary: Unpaid Placement


Location: This position is based out of our 601- 7700 Hurontario St., Brampton office. Althoughwe operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/orcommunity presence as per program and client needs.

What you will do:

  • Support marketing and communication campaigns: Assist in the development andexecution of marketing strategies, including creating content for digital and printmaterials.
  • Social Media Management: Schedule, monitor, and engage with audiences on CMHAPeel Dufferins social media channels, ensuring alignment with the organizations voiceand mission.
  • Content creation: Draft and edit newsletters, blog posts, website updates, pressreleases, and promotional materials.
  • Event Support: Assist with the promotion and coordination of community events,campaigns, and fundraisers.
  • Monitor media coverage, draft media releases, and support responses to mediainquiries.
  • Brand management: Ensure consistent application of CMHA Peel Dufferins brandguidelines across all communications.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with tracking campaign metrics, maintaining thecommunications calendar, and organizing marketing materials.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

What you need to Join our Team:

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a relatedfield, or current enrollment in such a program.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and graphic designtools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a similar role (nonprofitexperience is an asset).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, andcommunicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continuallyimprove understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming andintersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity,such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexualorientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is consideredan asset.
  • Ability to travel within and around Peel Region and Dufferin County.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
