The Lactation Consultant (LC) assists in the delivery of lactation support and promotes healthy lifestyle choices for the residents of the community. The LC functions interdependently with the other members of the Healthy Growth and Development team within a health promotion framework. The LC provides individual and group pre- and postnatal breastfeeding support and educational services to community members, while respecting and supporting the family's infant feeding objectives within the Baby-Friendly Initiative framework. She will protect, promote, and support breastfeeding within the communities served. The LC functions interdependently with the other members of the Healthy Growth and Development team within a health promotion framework.
