The Regional Director provides and coordinates the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership in theses area of specialization (licensing and health compliance, Staff training and Development) for assigned programs. The Regional remains the Director at their home location at the beginning and end of the day and when needed to perform their duties as the Director of that program but will oversee assigned locations during the day. They will work closely with program directors and their staff members in multiple 1st Class programs to create rich environments for children, families and educators to reach their full potential while ensuring that quality childcare standards and best practices are being implemented in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the program, with the philosophy and policies of 1st Class and in strict compliance with Alberta Childcare Licensing Act.

This position is a member of the Sub Management Team and reports directly to Owner and Director, HR Compliance and Business Development.

The Regional Director will support and develop the Location Directors in areas required as identified by the Location Director and through one one meetings, reviews and licensing inspections.
Duties and Responsibilities
Staff Training and development
- With the support of the 1st Class intervention support team, you will train, develop and support programs in training and mentoring directors and/or staff.
- Redirect any further training needed to the intervention support team or recommending and sourcing out external training as needed.
- Support the training of new team members to achieve and maintain excellence in all areas (program plan, licensing regulations and health checklist).
Program Operations
- Ensures and facilitates the smooth functioning of all aspects of the program to best serve the children and families.
- Maintains operations of the Centre within the budget.
- Works alongside the Director to plan and coordinate monthly plans and developmentally appropriate curriculum and materials within budget and aligned with program philosophy.
- Communicates professionally and in the manner of representing the Leadership Team and Owner with partnership staff including School Administration, landlords and General Managers of Community Centre when necessary.
- Acts in ratio for programs when needed.
Compliance
Assists with coordination of staffing schedules within teacher-child ratios and maintaining licensing requirements.
Consults, supports and provides guidance to staff in evaluating and revising programming, environment and materials as required.
Ensures they always know the number of children in the program as well as their names and details of their interests and important family unit information.
Visits assigned programs at least once a week and make at least one unannounced visit a month to ensure programs are in strict compliance with licensing and health guidelines.
During visits, ensure you are reviewing the monthly licensing and health checklists with directors and staff.
Assisting management with program plan development and update, exemption requests if necessary and any required documentation required by health or licensing.
General Human Resources
Communicates any decisions made by management to the program staff on an ongoing basis including scheduling and leading staff meetings.
Support Directors in ensuring Staff Documents are up to date, sign in entries is correct and approved.
Supports Directors in providing information on staffing needs to HR Director.
Oversee performance reviews and feedback.
Finding replacement or cover for program when needed.
Qualifications
Must have a flexible schedule and be available for all hours that the program is open and be available to cover shifts within the program.
Level 3 preferred or must have a minimum Level 2 - ECE Certificate and be enrolled in school to get Level 3 ECE certificate.
Strong knowledge of licensing standards and health guidelines.
Strong teamwork: willingness to learn; effective time management, administrative and organizational skills.
Must have own transportation and able to commute to assigned programs regularly.
Strong leadership skills.
Exceptional communication skills through an understanding of different management learning styles location to location.
