We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage and maintain accurate financial records for our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in supporting the company's financial health and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).

  • Maintain accurate general ledger and journal entries.

  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly.

  • Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Manage payroll and related government remittances (CPP, EI, taxes, WSIB, etc.).

  • Track and categorize business expenses.

  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financials for external accountants.

  • Monitor budgets and report on variances.

  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal financial regulations.

  • Maintain and organize digital and paper financial records.

  • Respond to inquiries related to financial transactions or account discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience (experience in [industry] is an asset).

  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Discretion with confidential financial information.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with payroll systems and government remittances.

  • Knowledge of HST/GST/PST filing requirements.

  • Familiarity with CRA regulations and year-end processes.

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
