The role of the Quality Inspector within the team of Longboard Products will be primarily responsible for maintaining the effective operation of aluminum surface treatment for an automated paint line and conducting tests and inspections of the quality of finished product produced on the automated paint line and sublimation line. Your goal is to ensure that the ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements of these processes and procedures are consistently implemented and to work closely with the Manager and/or Supervisor to ensure effective production to its highest efficiency, while maintaining product quality.

Location and Schedule:

  • This position is based at our Langley facility in the Gloucester area. Initial training will take place at our Abbotsford facility for the first three months, with regular reporting to the Langley location thereafter.
  • 40 Hours per week. The training schedule in Abbotsford is: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. After 3 months of training is complete in Abbotsford, you will report to the Langley facility and will work Monday to Thursday: 6:00 am - 3:00 pm and Friday: 6:00 am - 12:30 pm.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform the day-to-day operations to ensure timely quality testing according to QC procedures, including data analysis and report preparation.
    • Run the Datapaq on Paint Line and Decoral oven. Review, analyze and coordinate Datapaq results.
    • Conduct mechanical quality tests on daily production samples. Ensure tests are completed after the end of production day.
    • Coordinate the process for quality testing on all new paint powder received, including pre-treatment of samples, conducting quality tests and completing applicable documentation of tests.
    • Ensure quality checks are completed on the paint line and decoral. Conduct tests on finished products to verify results.
  • Perform the aluminum surface treatment day-to-day operations in Langley.
    • Chemical titration and analysis for the powder coating paint line.
    • Prepare samples and assist in coordination of etching rate tests.
    • Conduct dosing and chemical replenishment, while ensuring proper concentration and pH levels.
    • Maintain up-to-date records of surface treatment tests and interpret/analyze results and ensure process parameters are being met.
    • Conduct routine checks on surface treatment equipment including tanks, pumps and filtration systems. Report any issues or need for maintenance.
  • Perform start-up checks in paint line to ensure DI System, tank levels, dosing pumps and chemical solutions are within required operating requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to PPE requirements for chemical handling, disposal and related quality and environmental requirements.
  • Record chemical consumption, incoming stock amounts and calculate monthly consumption. Ensure records are maintained and up-to-date.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and effectively, and assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory.
  • Ensure control samples are available in all departments and approved for use in production.
  • Assist the Quality team in the analysis of products with quality issues and if required, evaluate quality issues.

  • Complex problem-solving and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Numerical and analytical ability.
  • Ability to have a strong impact and influence key decisions.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement quality and technical documentation for post-finishing processes.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing and/or powder coating industry, is an asset.
