Position: Compositing Supervisor
Location: Vancouver, BC (Remote)
*Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000 CAD annually
POSITION SUMMARY:
As Compositing Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the management of the compositing team on your assigned project(s), the quality of the compositing work and the overview of color continuity on a given show. Working closely with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and VFX Producer, you'll communicate and delegate the compositing needs of the show to the team and will be the voice of the compositing crew with respect to working conditions and pipeline environment. You'll manage shot progress, as well as contribute on the box to shot work where possible.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Compositing Supervisor directs dailies sessions and participates in rounds, providing ongoing creative feedback to the artists. They ensure that the quality of the work from the compositing team is of the highest standards and maintain the proper workflow methodology for artists on your project team. They are also responsible for the following:
  • Work closely with the CG team to ensure proper flow and execution of CG elements for compositing.
  • Work closely with the Show Set-Up Supervisor, Pipeline team and Production for setup and quality control of the 2D image processing pipeline of the project from ingestion to delivery.
  • Reports to Production to update status and manage risk to help execute the creative vision of the project on time and on budget.

WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a compositing supervisor for episode and feature film projects, as well as an excellent understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG rendering and compositing. Compositing Supervisors are expected to be comp generalists who can handle a wide range of comp tasks including but not limited to rotoscoping, paint, rig removals, keying, 2D, planar, and nuke camera tracking. Smart vectors, set extensions utilizing 2.5D projection workflows in Nuke's 3D space. Additional desired skills include:
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A team player with a great attitude, dependable and flexible
  • Excellent people and communication skills; ability to mentor coworkers
  • A strong creative eye and artistic skills
  • Basic knowledge of color science
  • General understanding of the whole DMP and CG pipelines
  • Proven technical and creative ability in episodic and feature-film production environment
  • Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
  • Ability to guide jobs, have insane attention to detail
