About the Opportunity

The Integrated Development team is looking to hire a dynamic
Director, Community Mobilization (Countering Antisemitism and Hate)
to engage the community and grassroots organizations in a concerted and strategic plan to battle against antisemitism and hate against our Jewish community. This new strategy will include the need to;

  • Foster meaningful engagement focused on countering antisemitism
    with community members, grassroots organizations, allies, and UJA staff by aligning action-oriented opportunities with their values and interests.
  • Curate accessible, relevant opportunities
    such as volunteer initiatives, advocacy trainings, and educational events
    to build an active and informed network of activists.
  • Collaborate with grassroots groups and allied organizations to create meaningful touchpoints for involvement.
  • Steward long-term relationships with engaged individuals and organizations through thoughtful communication, recognition, and development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the Vice President, Community Mobilization to develop the vision and strategic plan to leverage
    community mobilization as part of a core strategy in countering antisemitism and hate.
  • Work in concert with the broader Community Mobilization team to look for joint strategies best engage and grow volunteerism within the broader Toronto Jewish community.
  • Own the operational elements of the Community Mobilization (Countering Antisemitism and Hate) team (manage budget, key metric tracking, progress reporting, grassroots reach out,
    etc).
  • Design and curate a portfolio of programs and experiences, from hands-on volunteer opportunities to speaker series and trainings, that activate participation and build lasting relationships.
  • Support the growth of a grassroots
    training and leadership pipeline, mentoring and equipping emerging advocates with the tools to lead within their communities.
  • Track engagement metrics and feedback, using data to inform strategy and strengthen community connections.
  • Provide support, resources and strategic guidance to activists in support of the larger Countering Hate and Antisemitism objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Education or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years in community based roles.
  • Political experience
    highly recommended
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and associated functions
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications and platforms as needed
  • Knowledge of Salesforce an asset
  • Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
  • A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skills and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
  • Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
  • An ability to think strategically and critically
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality

*This is a full-time permanent position.As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis. Please note that UJAs offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
