The Opportunity

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for implementing Akimbo's social media strategy, implementing client campaigns on multiple social media platforms, managing daily content publishing, supporting client care, and helping to grow Akimbo's audiences across platforms.

Working both independently and collaboratively with the Akimbo team, the Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing Akimbo's online presence and brand. The Social Media Coordinator supports our marketing and social media operations while contributing ideas that align with our strategic goals and advance the company.

Key Responsibilities

Content Coordination

  • Manage social media process including including proofs, edits, and approvals in advance of deadlines using Akimbo's project management process.
  • Prepare, publish, and monitor daily content, ensuring accessibility standards are met.
  • Update the Akimbo project management schedule to track post status from proof through publishing.
  • Meet all daily and weekly deadlines.
  • Boost posts as scheduled, within set budgets.
  • Provide excellent, thoughtful, and knowledgeable service to internal team members and to clients when applicable.
  • Copyedit and format content to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Ensure all posts align with formatting rules and style guide standards.
  • Create and source on-brand imagery using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.

Strategy & Growth

  • Oversee the daily management of Akimbo's social media platforms. (Currently: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Threads, and YouTube.)
  • Ensure consistency in branding, organizational voice, and community engagement.
  • Monitor and moderate direct messages and communications; respond thoughtfully and quickly to audience interactions.
  • Track performance of posts, boosts, and ads; identify trends and optimize strategies.
  • Meet or exceed targets for audience growth and engagement.
  • Create and deliver monthly reports, keep audience tracking data up to date.
  • Proactively share strategic improvement and development suggestions.
  • Work with the team to shape and improve strategies, content planning, and engagement initiatives.

Client Support

  • Support client social media campaigns with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal team and external clients.
  • Ensure all client deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.

Who We're Looking For:

We're seeking someone who brings a blend of creativity, professionalism, and care to everything they do. The ideal candidate:

  • Has 3-5 years of professional experience in social media management or digital marketing.
  • Possesses strong knowledge and hands-on skills in social media marketing.
  • Is committed to excellence and delivers top-quality work with very strong attention to detail and accessibility standards.
  • Communicates professionally and warmly with clients, team members, suppliers, and others in daily interactions.
  • Participates and proactively contributes to a culture of positivity, thoughtfulness, care, and respect.
  • Is highly efficient, organized, and skilled at managing multiple priorities and deadlines within a very defined process.
  • Is results-focused any takes initiative to independently drive tasks to completion with measurable outcomes.
  • Is growth-minded and proactive in identifying opportunities to improve and expand.
  • Thinks creatively and can work independently.
  • Is available for occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Brings a positive attitude, genuine care, and enthusiasm for the arts and Akimbo's mission.
  • Has experience with the Canadian arts and culture sector (visual arts preferred)
  • Proficient with social media management tools, analytics platforms, and content creation workflows.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and visual content creation abilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

This role is responsible for generating the following outcomes in alignment with Akimbo's standard operating procedures (SOPs). Performance will be evaluated based on:

  • Audience Growth: Increase Akimbo's follower count, meeting monthly and quarterly targets with a focus on quality engagement and a relevant audience.
  • Content Quality and Delivery: Deliver 100% of scheduled posts on time, ensuring all content meets Akimbo's standards for content quality, accessibility, brand alignment, and visual consistency.
  • Communication: Professionalism, tone, clarity, and response time of all communication.
  • Task Management and Independence: Complete all assigned tasks within deadlines each day, week, month, and quarter, while proactively flagging any delays or challenges in advance.
  • Strategic Contribution: Propose and implement at least one actionable idea per quarter that measurably improves Akimbo's social media performance, audience engagement, or client service, demonstrating initiative and alignment with Akimbo's revenue goals.
