HEALTH & WELLNESS STAFF
Department: Community Services Department - Recreation Division

Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre
Position Type: Temporary Part Time
Hours: Hours of work vary – daytime, evening and weekend shifts are available. 1-5 hours per week.
Employee Group: Non-Union
Salary: $26.14 - $35.00 per hour, depending on role

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, these positions prepare lesson plans, provide quality instruction, evaluation and complete administrative tasks for the assigned programs/classes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relations skills.
  • Responsible for providing instruction and leadership for your designated program.
  • Responsible for on-going evaluations and feedback of the programs to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork to effectively administrate this program as per the Department Procedures.
  • Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports.
  • Provide the participants with excellent customer service including management of conflict through effective problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ensure all program areas are properly supplied with equipment, paperwork, and any other supplies that may be required for programs.
  • This position is responsible for keeping any required certifications current.
  • Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled.

FITNESS INSTRUCTOR 2
Number of Positions Available: 1
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma, at minimum
  • Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
  • Certified Group Fitness by a recognized and approved Agency (Depending on the discipline you are teaching in – Group Fitness, TRX, Kettlebell, etc.)
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification
  • Additional Fitness certifications
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Previous instructing experience in the assigned discipline

SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTOR – CERTIFIED (YOGA)
Number of Positions Available: 1
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma, at minimum
  • Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
  • Certified by a recognized and approved Agency – Yoga
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification
  • Previous instructing experience in the assigned or related discipline
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills

SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTOR – UNCERTIFIED (TAI CHI)
Number of Positions Available: 1
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma, at minimum
  • Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
  • 2 years practicing and leading Tai Chi
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified by a recognized and approved Agency related to the assigned discipline
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Previous instructing experience in the assigned discipline
RECRUITMENT PROCESS: Stage 1 – Interviews: Interviews will be scheduled with successful candidates for early July 2025. Stage 2 – Offer letter and Onboarding Paperwork: Offers are expected to go out by the end of July 2025, and an onboarding paperwork date will be included in offer letters for documents to be returned.
