About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our estimating and pre-construction team. This role requires deep experience in civil construction, landscaping, fence, deck projects, and erosion and sediment control (ESC) plans and environmental solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for public and private sector projects across Canada, while collaborating with project managers, designers, engineers, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and take-offs for civil, landscaping, fencing, decking, and environmental works, including ESC-related scopes.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, environmental plans, and tender documents.
- Review and incorporate Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, environmental products, and mitigation requirements into bids.
- Conduct site visits as needed to validate scope and identify potential risks or opportunities.
- Develop tender packages and review vendor/supplier quotes to ensure accurate pricing and scope alignment.
- Work closely with project managers and clients to develop construction budgets, schedules, and value engineering options.
- Stay current with industry costs, material pricing, and trends in environmental construction.
- Assist in bid strategy meetings and post-bid reviews.
- Contribute to process improvements in estimating workflows and documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of estimating experience in civil construction, landscaping, and environmental infrastructure in Canada.
- Strong understanding of ESC best practices, environmental protection products, and sustainable site development requirements.
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or equivalent).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven experience working on municipal, commercial, and/or residential site development projects.
- Knowledge of Canadian construction codes, environmental regulations, and provincial ESC requirements.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Studies, or related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites or supplier locations when needed.
