Reports To: ControllerPosition SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end close, general ledger reconciliation, audit support, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position offers exposure to a wide range of accounting functions in a dynamic manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to closing activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts including bank, loan, and fixed assets.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related reports.
- Prepare borrowing base reports and related documentation.
- Conduct weekly payroll analysis and monthly reporting on freight and external processing costs.
- Perform inventory validations through physical count reconciliations.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Assist with payroll processing and benefits reconciliation.
- File monthly HST and WSIB returns with supporting documentation.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Participate in internal, external, bank, and pension audits, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Assist with corporate tax return preparation.
- Complete required Stat Canada surveys.
- Maintain a strong understanding of company accounting systems and lead improvement initiatives focused on system enhancements, error-proofing, and automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on finance-related projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues impacting financial workflows.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Visual Manufacturing ERP is considered an asset.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel (including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and formulas).
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.
- Strong understanding of internet tools and email communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret financial reports and present information clearly to various stakeholders.
- Capable of providing guidance and training to team members when needed.
- Strong numerical skills with attention to accuracy.
- Proficient in performing complex calculations and data analysis.
