Job Overview
The Core is seeking a dedicated, friendly, and warm Speech Language Pathologist to join the team. The ideal candidate will have experience with pediatric speech and language therapy, and demonstrate ability to understand and implement neurodiversity-affirming and strength based care. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapy to children with communication differences. The Speech Language Pathologist will be expected to work collaboratively with other healthcare and education professionals to ensure the child and family's needs met with individualized care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of children's speech and language abilities, including communication disorders. The applicant will be expected to have knowledge in and be willing to expand knowledge about Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) practices and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Develop individualized therapy plans based on assessment results and client needs.
  • Implement therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices to improve communication skills.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care for families.
  • Educate patients and their families about speech-language disorders and therapy options.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and therapy plans
  • Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in speech-language pathology to enhance clinical practices.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid certification through CHCPBC as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • The applicant should be willing to be RASP certified. The Core SLP will provide supervision to an applicant who is not yet RASP certified.
  • Experience working with pediatric clients.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases while providing high-quality and neurodiversity affirming care.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry standards.

Scheduling

  • This is an indefinite contract position. The applicant will be expected to work a minimum of 6 hours per week, but a full caseload is available. Days of work and timing of work is flexible (i.e., if you just want weekends, only evenings, 9-5, etc.) The office is stocked with assessment tools, resources, and toys.
