FLIGHTCRAFT AVIATION SERVICES has a long year history of providing safe, best in class aviation ground handling services. As we grow, we are currently seeking candidates for a Ground Service Equipment Mechanic based in Winnipeg, MB.This career is a part of the overall Flightcraft Team, and is an integral part of the Leadership Group within the company.

JOB SUMMARY:

The GSE Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a variety of ground support equipment used in aviation operations. This includes mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used to support aircraft servicing and logistics. The GSE Mechanic ensures all equipment is functioning safely and efficiently to support ground operations in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Safety, attention to detail, following company procedures, and team work are key components to be successful in this position. The ideal candidate would have a Red Seal and must possess verbal and written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. They must have a technical and mechanical skillset and be willing and able to troubleshoot GSE issues, and perform preventative and non-invasive GSE maintenance. He/She must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair GSE such as tugs, belt loaders, air start units, ground power units (GPU's), baggage carts, lavatory carts, heat carts, and more.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on all assigned equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with CCOHS, IATA, and company safety standards.
  • Order parts, and maintain inventory levels.
  • Operate equipment for functional testing after repairs.
  • Assist in the training of junior mechanics or technicians.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must have 2-3 years previous mechanical/small engine/diesel experience.
  • Must have extensive asset/inventory management skills.
  • Must be able to apply and secure an Airport Restricted Identification Card (RAIC).
  • Must have valid drivers license with clean abstract.
  • Ability to speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Previous airline experience would be an asset.
  • Must have sound understanding of parts inventory and cataloguing.
  • Must have excellent team player competencies.
  • Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of Google, Office, and Hippo Asset Management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and/or in a team environment.
  • Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation and work varied shifts when needed for operational reasons.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
