Company Description

Members of Parliament are responsible to uphold the principles and practices of Canadian democracy. They sit in the House of Commons to serve as representatives of the people who have elected them to that office. Members consider and vote on legislation in the chamber, attend committee and caucus meetings, and perform a wide range of duties in their constituencies. They also represent Canada when travelling abroad on official business or when hosting foreign dignitaries.

Job Description

A Member of Parliament is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Constituency Caseworker position.

About the role:

As a Constituency Caseworker in a diverse and urban community, you will manage and resolve issues on behalf of constituents by liaising with other federal government departments and services. Your colleagues are collaborative, motivated and strive to provide the best services in both official languages to their constituents.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain the case management structure including file management and prioritization;
  • Advocate for constituents in need of support from federal government programs;
  • Understand current guidelines, legislation, and services offered by federal government programs;
  • Establish relationships with key contact points to resolve matters quickly and effectively;
  • Assist with the management of office and administrative tasks such as media presence, community events, processing mail and email etc.;
  • Attend events and meetings with or on behalf of the Member of Parliament and staff.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in political science, business administration or a related field or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience;

Experiences:

  • Significant experience in managing multiple, simultaneous activities or events in a fast-paced and fluid environment;
  • Experience prioritizing and maintaining relationships with multiple clients by exhibiting strong attention to detail, adaptability, and analytical skills;
  • Significant experience working in an office setting with autonomy and professionalism.

Assets:

  • Experience in casework management;
  • Experience working with a Member of Parliament or a political office;
  • Communication skills in Urdu and/or Punjabi is strongly preferred.
