Momiji Health Care Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the independence, health, and quality of life of senior citizens, primarily of Japanese-Canadian descent. Our team is passionate about meeting the needs of our senior citizens and is committed to working collaboratively and openly with a results-oriented approach. We are seeking an experienced and community-minded Community Programs Worker. This is a part-time position typically scheduled from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, working 15 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Additionally, occasional travel may be necessary to various locations in the community. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors by providing programs and services that foster connection, engagement, and wellness. The Role: As the Community Programs Worker, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating programs and services for Japanese-Canadian seniors at our partner site, Castleview-Wychwood Towers, as well as other community locations. You will also coordinate and supervise volunteers, facilitate congregate dining luncheons, and help promote Momiji's programs in the wider community. The successful candidate will be organized, compassionate, and experienced in community programming, preferably with seniors. Bilingual language skills (Japanese/English) are a requirement. Major Responsibilities: * Plan, coordinate, and evaluate engaging programs for seniors, including on-site and community-based programs. * Coordinate and supervise volunteers, including recruitment, training, and evaluation. * Lead the operation of Momiji's Community Congregate Dining luncheons, including meal coordination, volunteer management, and event programming. * Facilitate the Bento meal delivery program for community clients. * Maintain accurate program and volunteer records, statistics, and reports. * Foster positive relationships with partner organizations, stakeholders, and community members. * Promote Momiji's programs and represent the organization in a professional and positive manner. Skills & Abilities Required: * 2-3 years of experience working as a program worker, or a similar role * Experience with seniors, preferably in community-based or multicultural programs. * Post-secondary education in social services, gerontology, or related field. * Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills. * Proficiency with computers and technology for record-keeping and communication. * Bilingual in Japanese and English is a requirement. * Access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel. * Valid Drivers Licence * Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required. * First Aid & CPR Certification, Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check, and Tuberculosis Test required.
