Quality Engineering Specialist – Toronto Office

Reporting to Engineering Manager / Senior Program Manager

Responsible for coordination of PPAP / ISIR processes for new programs, establishing quality performances, criteria, component costing, part validation. Working with engineering and production teams along with customers to ensure successful program launches through the use of APQP processes.

Duties:

1) Establish PPAP requirements and timing for all new programs based on customers SOR. Provide feedback, feasibility and completion of all deliverables.

2) Provide support to engineering and production teams in the area of evaluation of tool trials, fixture validation, components and part quality. Establish corrective actions to improve dimensional results.

3) Collect all required documentation related to material, processes, dimensional results appearances and packaging for customer approval.

4) Provide updates on PPAP status through weekly development meetings and APQP meetings. Provide countermeasures on items not progressing as per schedule

5) Packaging development (corrugated, totes, dunnage) and validation using internal and customer interfaces as means of communication and approvals.

6) Coordinate AAR submissions and approvals on molded in color, painted parts and components with suppliers and customers.

7) Coordinate quotations, initial samples and PPAP approval of components produced by suppliers (NA, offshore).

8) Establish, finalize and distribute BOM information to purchasing and manufacturing for sourcing and input to ERP system.

9) Analyze customer part validation requirements (DVP&R) for relevance, cost and timing, coordinate testing with laboratories and suppliers.

10) Coordinate design, sourcing, validation and approval of required measuring devices (check fixtures.

11) Review validity of warranty claims and follow through with the appropriate countermeasures.

12) Provide support to customer Quality Engineer(s) through means of providing requested documentation throughout development.

13) Manage engineering changes (ECR's) though appropriate protocol and meetings

Skills:

1) Knowledge of GM, Stallantis, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda and Mobis part approval process including their online portals /systems

2) Trouble shooting skills required to improve part quality and quality process.

3) Strong and effective verbal and written communication internally, manufacturing plants, customers and suppliers.

4) Strong organization (electronic filing) and record keeping skills with working knowledge of SharePoint interface.

5) GD&T interpretation and design

6) Technical support writing

7) Familiarity with OEM paint systems, racking and masking

8) Ability to work in a fast past environment with excellent attention to detail with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

1) College or other post-secondary education related to Quality Control Management

2) 5-10 years working experience in the automotive industry specific to quality control

3) Knowledge of ISO / TS 16949

4) Travel – US and Quebec
