As an Intermediate Hardware Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in our engineering team, contributing to the design, development, and testing of advanced hardware systems for power grid automation and high-voltage instrumentation. Your responsibilities will include circuit design, PCB development, embedded hardware integration, and system-level validation.

This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects with a high degree of autonomy and influence. As part of a close-knit, cross-functional team, you'll help shape the direction of our hardware products and bring innovative solutions to life.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and test analog and digital circuits for embedded systems and power grid applications
  • Develop and review PCB designs and layouts for embedded hardware solutions
  • Collaborate with software teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components
  • Conduct hardware testing, including debugging, validation, and troubleshooting of prototypes
  • Design and implement test benches for hardware validation and automated testing
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements for NuGrid products
  • Support continuous improvement by proposing and implementing design optimizations
  • Maintain thorough documentation of hardware designs, test results, and other relevant materials
  • Participate in the development of product prototypes, from concept to production

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 24 months of experience in hardware design or embedded systems, including:
    • Circuit design and schematic capture
    • PCB layout experience using tools such as Altium, Eagle, or KiCad
    • Analog and digital circuit testing and debugging
    • Embedded systems experience, including microcontrollers, sensors, or FPGAs
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for team collaboration
  • Self-driven and able to independently explore and understand unfamiliar or complex technical topics

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with FPGA or ASIC design and development
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • High-speed PCB design and PCBA layout/manufacturing experience
  • Exposure to high-voltage systems or power grid-related hardware
  • Interest in the power grid sector, smart grid technologies, and sustainable energy solutions
